As every 31 May, the World No Tobacco Day is celebrating today across the globe to raise awareness about the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure.

Under the 2024 theme Protecting children from tobacco industry interference, EU-OSHA joins the World Health Organisation (WHO) to advocate for an end to the targeting of the youth with harmful tobacco products.

Although the International Labour Organisation estimates that smoke-free policies in the workplaces have reduced total tobacco consumption among employees by an average of 29% in several industrialised countries, at least 37 million young people aged 13–15 years still use some form of tobacco worldwide, according to 2022 WHO data.
