Occupational cancer risk factors in Europe – methodology of the Workers’ Exposure Survey

The Workers’ Exposure Survey on cancer risk factors in Europe (WES) provides information on probable exposure of workers during the last working week to several known cancer risk factors. This report outlines the methodology used to develop WES.

It explains how WES was adapted from the Australian Work Exposures Study and the steps taken to translate the questionnaire to the languages of the EU Member States where it was implemented. It further details testing of the adapted questionnaire and subsequent approaches to sampling, main fieldwork, data quality control and data weighting.
